There are certain controls required in order to be able to ­perform jib movements as ­easily, ­reliably and efficiently as possible. Camera functions such as rec ,zoom, focus, iris, and lens are very important controls specially when a camera is mounted on the crane. Some manufacturers do not supply these controls and they have to bought seperately as accessories.

A zoom controller is connected to the LANC terminal (Local Application Control Bus System) of SONY and CANON cameras. A protocol developed by Sony which enables video devices to be controlled externally, usually from a connected remote. Status information from these devices is also accessible. LANC is also known as Control-L.

As for PANASONIC a zoom controller is connected to the Camremote terminal of the camera.
